Slim pickin's would be a good way to describe my post tonight. We had friends come over this
afternoon for a shrimp boil.
We ate shrimp till we almost spewed, and then had a helping of Jilda's Chocolate Cherry Trifle. Yum.
Afterwards we drank coffee and to borrow a phrase from a Dan Fogelberg song, we talked until our tongues were tired.
When they left, I stepped down to dump a scoop of corn out for the deer and shot yet another photo of our patch of old maids.
Y'all have a great week to come. Let's all do something remarkable.
Aren't those evenings the best though, just relaxing and talking to friends :-)
ReplyDeleteThey Truly are Launna.
DeleteThe best times are those shared with friends! I lost my best friend to cancer this past spring. We were closer than family for over 35 years. I miss the times we shared, so enjoy every moment. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThat's great to have company and share special moments. If only I could get myself out of this dumpy mood I am in listening to the news lol
ReplyDeleteWould be great!
The rain has been dumping all day long today too and it's quite chilly. All I did was some room cleaning and shopping. Usually shopping cheers me up but you go out and see more of the same ....
Oh well Tomorrow is another day and maybe I will hear or see something inspirational to get me zipping back to my ol self. lol
Zip on back now, ya hear :)
DeleteDays like that are the best!!
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like you did do something remarkable..and it sounded yummy to boot. Love your old maids..I've never heard of them and I think they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think the real name of the flower is Zenias. But we've always called them old maids.
DeleteAmazing photo as always Rick. I hope you had a good first day of autumn!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith, you too.
DeleteYou and yours had a splendid day...
ReplyDeleteThe food sounded delish...and to top it off with a cup of coffee and wonderful conversation...uhmm. Beautiful day!
That it was Jackie. I'll need to get Jilda to post her recipe for the trifle. It's scrumptious.
DeleteThanks all for your kind words. It was a special day.
