Winter retreating

The sun came out this afternoon and we took advantage of the opportunity to walk. Down at the barn, a dead limb the size of my thigh had fallen during the wind a few days ago. When we walked today, I picked up a length of the limb to toss it into the woods next to the barn road. Jilda paused to watch. When I tossed it next to the road, it flipped over. I turned to continue our walk, but Jilda saw something where I'd tossed the limb. It bounced when I tossed, it landed and rolled. Underneath the limb was a patch of ferns that I hadn't noticed. She called dibs and stepped over to snap a picture. I kicked myself for missing that shot. Our motto is, you snooze, you lose.

When we made our second lap, we walked through the blueberries. I noticed that the warm temps these last few days have coaxed the bushes to take a step closer to blooming.

I chose to believe the coming spring has old man winter retreating.

  1. I love it, spring can't be far away. I have replaced two tomato plants. But now they are in pots and will stay until we head North. Imma going to protect these two.

  3. Signs of spring.... Soon you'll be picking loads of blueberries. I've been toying with the idea of planting some blueberry bushes this spring. I may do just that.

  6. I'm behind on my blog reading so I had a fun moment reading your previous posts. The pics you snapped in them were beautiful and seeing your blueberry bushes starting to bloom makes me a wee bit jealous! I know ours will follow suit but not for at least 3 months! We had some sun today and the snow from last night melted. It's suppose to be 70 on Tuesday but with rain. I'll take it over snow! Have a good Monday!

  7. It’s so nice to go for a walk...I did the same with my hubby albeit it was a short one. The second picture...is that a leaf or a funky mushroom? Tomorrow, a high of 5C but rain, rain, rain
