Low-key Christmas Eve Eve

Jilda wrapped more presents today and I worked some in the yard. I bought pine bark mulch for the blueberry bushes a few months ago but it's been stacked under the pear tree.

Apparently, the mulch doesn't work unless you put it on the roots of the blueberry bushes. Who knew.

When I got to the last plant, I saw an offshoot that was just hitting its color stride. The sun was low in the sky and seemed to be highlighting the tiny bush.

Pulling the phone from my pocket, I snapped a pic.

This evening, Jilda baked a small turkey and made dressing.  That's what we had for supper this evening. It was an incredible meal for Christmas Eve Eve.

  1. That is SUCH a vibrant colour. Christmas Eve is winding down here. I have been cooking and preparing dishes for our cold meals tomorrow (it is expected to be in the 90sF).
I hope you and Jilda have a lovely Christmas Eve, and Christmas to follow it.

  2. Now you got me thinking of a current commercial that makes fun of people turning into their dad, the line is "That's some good mulch." I guess you have to see it, but it always cracks me up.

We usually have turkey for Christmas day but this year, we are invited at my daughter's place for Christmas and they are having ham.
