I grunt now when I stand. My new knee helped, but my other joints must have something against titanium. So, I grunt.
The past several months I've noticed that Caillou the wonder collie has started grunting too. When he stands and he doesn't lie down as gracefully as he once did.
Tonight when I was cruising through photo archives for a pic to post tonight, I realized why Caillou was grunting. We've had him since 2010. That's nine years. Even though he was young when he chose to come live with us, he was full grown. He could be 12 years old. That's old for a big dog.
Other than the grunting, he seems to be healthy. I hope he stays that way for a long time, but time has taught me that's rarely the case. But I don't want to think about that right now.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin is supposed to work wonder for older dogs. I think It is a bit expensive.
ReplyDeleteYou could work on your tennis skills and join the professional circuit. The Australian Open tennis is on here at the moment and grunting is de rigueur.
ReplyDeleteGlucosamine and Chondroitin also works wonders for some older people...

Your other commentators beat me to the punch. On both counts.
ReplyDeleteCaillou is beautiful. I hope you can find some relief for him. Getting old is not for sissies, regardless of the species.
That is one gorgeous photo, Rick. It has a spirit that reaches out.
ReplyDeleteResimden etkilendim.
ReplyDeleteDoğal bir ortam var.
teşekkür ederim
DeleteBeautiful. He looks like a movie star. ; )
ReplyDeleteLisa
We are all grunting somewhat. Getting old is certainly not for sissies. We better get use to it because it's not going to get any easier, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julia
Not sure how y'all feel about it, but CBD oil has done wonders for my BF's chronic pain …..
ReplyDeleteDear Rick, Caillou is surely a handsome dog. How blessed you both are to have one another. Peace.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hear the other joints don't like the new joint on the block and start protesting. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have always loved your shots of Caillou. The name is unique, the dog is beautiful. Anyone who saw 'Lassie Come Home' or 'Laddy' in the movies just want to hug them like 'Timmy(?)' did.
Good entry my friend.
A person with pets learns to enjoy them while they are here. Often the time is short.
ReplyDeleteYou've had (& loved) each other for a long time, but it's never long enough. I hope you both have several relatively pain free more years!!
ReplyDeleteI've been grunting for years and my Wallace grunts too but he is only 9. The bones just are not what they used to be but the mind is which is good. I love that shot because he must be seeing something of interest
