I worked on taxes today. With a small business, it's complicated. After about six hours of compiling receipts, verifying numbers, and figuring I was ready to slash both my wrists.
That seemed like a good time to take the dogs for a walk. The afternoon was supposed to be sunny and the temps were supposed to be in the low 60s. I think the weatherman must have been hitting the sauce because it was cold and damp all day.
Behind the barn, I noticed a color I hadn't seen before. I'm not sure if it was the angle of light, the amount of rain we've had the last several days or what but the dead limb from a nearby oak turned orange. Actually, it was fungi on the limb that had turned that color.
I found it striking. It turns out, it was the picture of the day. I didn't think you'd enjoy seeing stacks of receipts and spreadsheets.

Tax time for a farmer is never a fun time either. I'd rather look at the orange fungus. The little spot of bright green fungus at the bottom is a sharp contrast to the orange color.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.

That funghi looks like a type of lichen - and is MUCH prettier than tax papers.
ReplyDeleteWe keep everything together all year and then sort it out in January. Takes us about and hour just to count and match things. We went to the tax office today to turn it in.
ReplyDeleteTis the season

Tax season gives me hives. Anyway, I do love your pic! In the decorating world I believe they would call that a "pop of color"!
ReplyDeleteÇok ilginç merak ettim
ReplyDeleteGood thing you decided against slashing your wrists. It's messy and complicates life for other people and we would have missed out on that strikimg orange lichen display.

I thought, this year I will let someone else do the taxes. But then I will probably give it one more try...
ReplyDeleteLove the picture, enjoy the walks..
That is an unusual fungus color.
ReplyDeleteYears ago I gave up and go the accountant way. More expensive than it should be, and I could do them myself especially with Mrs. C assistance (maybe the other way around) but I make the accountant one of my few extravagances.
Tax time is for most headache time, or throw a tantrum time and for some it is pay someone else to deal with this time
