Mystery plant

The rain moved out yesterday. Through the great room windows, I could see the morning sunlight turning the trees a light shade of fuschia.

After coffee, we put on our walking shoes and hit the trail. Down by the barn there were tiny violets blooming. Jilda beat me to the draw on that one. You have to be photographically quick to beat her.
I did see some blooming purple plant. I don't know what it is but I have an app that might identify it but I have to shoot it against a white background. Needless to say, I didn't have a white background. I'll do that another day. Until then it's a mystery plant.

  1. They look familiar but I'm not sure of their name either. I hope someone can identify them.

  2. The world of Flora is lost in me. I know a laurel from a rose and a dogwood from a pine and that smelly flower that visits funerals all the time.
We do have many folks in bloggerville that knows them all. I miss my friend Bonnie when things like this come up.

  3. We have them and my hubby called them purple dragons. We got them from a neighbour and they spread very fast and can be called invasive.

  4. Rick, I believe that is MINT. Rub a leaf and smell it.

  5. I see it has square stems, which makes it a mint - hard to say which variety, maybe Walker's Low Catmint. (Catmint is different than catnip.)

  6. I was thinking the leaves look like some sort of mint. The above comment makes me feel so smart.

  7. Looks just lime mint but I just saw some and it did not smell like mint (that was growing near it). Look up “Purple Deadnettle”. Thats what it is.
