There's a tree behind our barn that grows a mushroom beard every year. Last year it was more of a goatee. This year it's going for the full beard look.
Life is an interesting puzzle. This piece can only survive if this piece thrives...or dies.
I think everything is connected on some level.
I've said this before and some people scoffed. I could be wrong. But what if I'm not.
What if every living thing on this planet is connected.
Oh, it's just a snail darter, if it goes extinct it's no big deal, someone says. But what if the snail darter contains an enzyme that can cure Alzheimer's or maybe cancer?
I didn't mean to get all existential and whatnot but looking at the hickory tree with a beard of mushrooms made me wonder if we're not missing something.
Hmmm...a fungus among us? I truly believe we..I mean man, beast, flower and other vegetation are connected and many secrets are there for us to discover.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you.
ReplyDeleteRecent studies have shown that trees 'communicate' under ground and can share water and nutrients. I am quite sure there are more mysteries and wonders to be discovered. This world is for sharing, not dominating/destroying. Climbing down from my soapbox now.
Or maybe the snail darter exudes a slime which gets in the water supply and causes cancer? I get your point, but we are part of the ecology, not a destroyer of ecology, we make decisions regarding our environment that other "parts of the ecology" do not, so we do bear responsibility for poor decisions.
ReplyDeleteI believe there is a lot to be discovered. I have always wondered if Poison Oak is the cure to something.

Yeah, we seen to ALWAYS miss something. Hopefully someone finds the most important secrets hidden in nature.
ReplyDeleteSherry & jack
I am in full agreement. Everything is connected.
ReplyDeleteWith more being discovered in usage of natural cures, let the darter snail be. I wonder what those mushrooms are.
ReplyDeleteYou are not far off and everything is connected. Did you ever see the brief video of when wolves were reintroduced to Yosemite Park (I think it is Yosemite) Everything was struggling but when the wolves came, they killed the deer which brought back the growth which helped the rivers that brought back the beavers and so on...it was amazing to listen to
