Birthdays.
At first, they come slowly.
Then later unexpectedly.
Your knees begin to squeak
and you have trouble hearing in crowds.
When you're young, you won't listen to elders,
because you think they have nothing to say.
If I could get a message through
to the generations that follow,
it would be this:
Life is quick.
Happy birthday Rick.

ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to you. And yes, life is quick, and it seems to be speeding up.
ReplyDeleteThe trick is to slow down so you don't miss a moment. Happy Birthday! Enjoy every moment of your special day!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Love the picture, the message? Only the few get it. We are too busy living to notice it is passing one short day at a time.
ReplyDeleteGood entry, succinct and to the point, as usual.
Sherry and jack... Too soon...OLD!
So true, but some in this generation would just say, "OK Boomer." their way of holding their ears and humming "La la la la la la".
ReplyDeleteSweet picture, Rick. You are so right- Life Is Quick! Happy Birthday! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteDear Rick, yes, quick. The word I always use if "fleeting." Like seems so fleeting especially as I age. (I'll be 84 on April 1.) The "winged chariot" that one of the British poets wrote about seems nearer and nearer.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely birthday and that friends and family members celebrated with you. May this new year bring you closer to your deepest heart wish. Peace.
Sometimes it seems like yesterday that we were running and playing outside with not a care in the world. Other times it feels like a distant memory. Life is quick and we should not waste it.
ReplyDeleteBirthday come slow and fast but as long as we are alive and pretty much well it doesn't matter
