Tulip poplar

A lite mist fell as we walked this morning.
The first wave of rain had moved off to the northeast,
but a second wave was less than an hour behind.
We walked with a purpose...
The purpose was to get our steps in before getting soaked to the bone.
On the first lap down the barn road,
I noticed that a tulip poplar blossom had fallen.
They are so high in the canopy, that few
get a chance to see their beauty.
The wind must have brought this one
down for us to enjoy.
It would have been tragic
not to have noticed it.

This is not a tree I know, and that bloom is spectacular. Many thanks.

  3. I never knew we had these until I was mowing and saw the flowers on the ground. I looked up and could see them at the top of the trees. Such a nice surprise!

  4. What a gift! Beautiful for sure ! I don't walk in the rain so it looks like a day in the house for me. It's been raining here this morning. Probably all day too.

  5. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

    FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 30TH, 2020

The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

    Happy Birthday to you♥

Today is also Raisin Day which honors a delicious snack of dried grapes. People have been dehydrating grapes to make raisins for thougsands of year.s The practice dates back to 2000 B.C. and originated in Persia and Egypt. Raisins were prized by the Ancient Romans, who used this delicious snack food to barter. They also award raisins as prizes at sporting events.

Raisins are low in fat and contain important nutrients like iron, copper, calcium, and antioxidants. Raisins first became commercially popular in 1873 when a heat wave destroyed acres of California grape vines. One grower decided to sell the dried grapes and marketed them as a Peruvian delicacy. Today, California Produes half of the world’s raisin supply .

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

I heard it from the grapevine…

This grandson’s birthday is another of my long distance celebrations here at my house. As usual a card was sent out in the mail with lover and birthday wishes. He got his nickname because of his wonderful smile that has provided me a lot of sunshine over the years. A smile is like sunshine in the house.

Thankfully, I was able to see him over our Christmas vacation this year and I also got to see him and talk to him when we had our family Zoom call at Eastertime. But for today a card will have to make do.

Raisins do make a good snack and are good for you. They are packed with energy and rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. Raisins are naturally sweet and high in sugar, but they’re beneficial to our health when eaten in moderation. In fact raisins can aid digestion, boost iron levels and keep your bones strong.

Most kids love to get their own little individual box of them for a snack. I had them when I was young and so did my children. My mom always told us they were healthy because of their iron content.

I hope you have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

    COUNTING MY GIFTS

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure, but scattered along lifes pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.
